Graphics for Augmented Reality
Inspector Green
These graphics, including the app icon at right, were developed for the educational mobile game Inspector Green (Mobile Release: May 2018). The game uses location based augmented reality to introduce players to management strategies that mitigate the environmental impact of urbanization.
The following graphics were the result of a contract with DesignGreen LLC.
The Gremlins
Cartoon characters called “Gremlins” represent problems that often occur in rain gardens. The cartoon characters’ googly eyes keep them friendly, even as they grow and multiply on the characters screen. While the paper cut-out style and bright colors helps them remain visible, even against a photographic background key to augmented reality games.
These sprites were built in Adobe Illustrator.

The Tools
Players use tools to “capture” the gremlins and keep the rain gardens alive. These icons were designed with a clean look to keep them easy to identify at the small size required for mobile games. Each tool corresponds to one or more gremlins which it has the ability to capture. For example, the gloves are used to remove dead plants, and the auger is used to remove standing water.
These icons were built in Adobe Illustrator.

The Player Model
The player model is a 3D model that hops around the map looking for rain gardens to protect. The design of the model was kept clean to mimic the cartoon look of the 2D sprites. The Model was built in Blendr.
